The Outdoor Empathy blog shares thoughts on wilderness travelling. It contains reports on mountain hikes, kayak adventures, wave kitesurfing, and other outdoor journeys in several countries. Kitesurfing


If you like skiing, scating, snowboarding, surfing, then you may like kiteboarding as well. I always lived near the coast, and with mountains a thousand kilometers away, kitesurfing is the way to go. At Zandvoort (a German guidebook says) 'in strong winds the bear gets loose'. I have seen waves up to four meters, three meter waves I would say you will get twenty times a year. These are the days we get our substitute for backcountry snowboarding, though here the pistes are made of moving and unpredictable dykes of water.
